The Crystal Waters Visitors Camping Area lies between two wooded gullies, with magnificent grey gums creating dappled shade. The area is alive with the sound of Bell Miners and other forest-dwelling birds. Roos and wallabies often spend their days in the cool shaded areas here.
The Visitors Area contains a timber bunkhouse of four rooms each with six beds (24 in total), powered and unpowered camping and caravan sites, and an amenities block with solar heated showers, coin operated washing machines and a drier. There is a permanent semi-sheltered bbq area where you can cook over the open fire, under the stars.
For the backpacker, Crystal Waters offers the opportunity to get away from it all. Yet it is only an hour and a half from Brisbane, less than an hour from the Sunshine Coast beaches, half an hour from the arts and crafts of Maleny and Montville and even closer to the Conondale National Park.
You may choose just to take it easy in the quiet bushland setting. Or you can take time to check out what it is like to live in an intentional community, or to learn something about Permaculture. (Weekends, or stays of around a week or more, are best if you want to experience community life.)
WWOOFers are always welcome at Crystal Waters. Though work is usually available, it cannot be guaranteed unless you make prior arrangements with a WWOOF host. A stay in the Visitors Camping Area can often result in work being offered.
